In my trek across the country I've noticed that the inventory at the big chain stores is uniform nationwide. When I got to the accessories department at Target, they only had winter hats. This doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. It's in the upper 80s right now in San Diego, and it doesn't get freezing cold. Are they really selling that many winter hats?
I gave up on trying to find a summer hat and just decided to put a t-shirt over my face while I was relaxing in the sun. A much more economical choice. And it worked just fine.
Coronado Beach is gorgeous. I basked in the sun for a while and listened to my iPod. Then all of a sudden, it got really cloudy! I was really bummed. This goes on the "cons" list for San Diego. Fortunately I had my bike on the back of my car, so I just packed up my beach blanket, put on some shoes, and went for a bike ride.
It was an excellent ride, except for the beginning. I was moving to the sidewalk because it was way too dangerous to ride on the road at that point. In retrospect, I probably would've been better off riding on the road. There was some sand before the entrance to the sidewalk. I thought it was just a little bit of sand, but apparently it was more than a little bit. It was a lot of sand that was filling up a big whole in the ground. As I was turning on to the sidewalk, my front tire slipped on the sand and I fell flat on my face and I now have a big ugly scrape on my chin. Oh well. I'll survive.
I went back to Laura's around 5:00, took a nap, and then Laura made a delicious dinner.
